Dating back thousands of years to ancient India, yoga is a fluid, intelligent and evolving system of connecting the body/mind/spirit.Hatha Yoga is one path to experiencing Yoga. It offers a holistic framework consisting of ethical observances, physical postures, yogic breathing and meditation. The asanas (postures) and breath serve as an anchor for the mind, resulting in a heightened awareness of the present moment.
The intelligence of Hatha yoga lies within how the practice is adapted to the needs of the time. When used appropriately, the practice can be therapeutic for people living with chronic pain, depression, anxiety, recovering from injury or illness, coping with trauma and for enhancing overall well being. It is a misconception that a person needs to be flexible or constituted in a particular way to practice yoga. If you can breathe, you can practice yoga! Whether your brand new to yoga or you've been practicing for years, it is my hope that you will be curious, playful and ultimately empowered in your yoga journey.
“Yoga is like music: the rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind, and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life.” ― B.K.S. Iyengar
