The practice of yoga dates back thousands of years to ancient India. A fluid and evolving system of connecting the body/mind/spirit, yoga has been credited as being one of India's gifts to the world. Many practitioners would contend the wisdom of yoga is embedded deep within the human experience, penetrating even our cellular make up. Furthermore, the philosophy of yoga sits as a bridge between religion and modern day science, offering deep insights into humanity's spiritual questions.
The word yoga means "to unify" or "become One" and while it might seem like a lofty idea, you've probably had a glimpse of Yoga more recently than you think! Have you ever felt "one with everything" when you were hiking, gardening or in commUNION with nature and loved ones?
Hatha Yoga is a holistic practice which involves physical postures, yogic breathing and meditation. The asanas (postures) and the breath serve as an anchor for the mind, resulting in a heightened awareness of the present moment.
Whether your brand new to yoga or you've been practicing for years, it is my hope that you will be curious and playful in your yoga journey.
